Witches Brew !!!!!!!!!!

" A fun Halloween attention getter. A fake hand is frozen in a latex glove and then slipped into the punch bowl!"
1 10 oz. package frozen raspberries, thawed
2 1/2 cups cranberry juice
2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
2 liters ginger ale
2 liters sparkling apple cider
6 gummi snakes candy

1. To make the frozen hand: Wash and rinse the outside of a latex dish-washing glove. Turn glove inside out and set aside. In a 4 cup measuring cup, combine the thawed raspberries and cranberry juice.
2. Pour two cups of the raspberry mixture into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin over and let stand 2 minutes. Warm over low heat, stirring constantly, just until gelatin dissolves. Mix back into the reserved raspberry mixture in the measuring cup.
3. Pour raspberry mixture into the inverted glove. Gather up the top of the glove and tie securely with kitchen twine. Freeze until solid.
4. To serve: Carefully cut latex glove away from frozen hand. Place frozen hand, palm side up, leaning against side of large punch bowl. Pour in ginger ale and sparkiling cider. Garnish with gummy snakes.

Happy Halloween !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope all you ghosts and goblins out there have a frightfully fun Halloween.....take joy in all the dress up...eats lots of candy.....maybe even watch some good old scary movies....carve some pumpkins....make some caramel apples...and have a spooky happy day!!!!!!!!

About Bats..............

I think Bats are highly misunderstood.....
Bats are mammals, and suckle their young...just like we do. Most bats are shy and mild. They are not blind, and mean; they do not fly into people's faces, and entangle their hair.
They do not fasten themselves to people's necks and suck blood. Only a very very tiny number of them get rabies....Some bats in South America pollinate flowering trees; others who eat fruit disperse seeds throughout the rain forest. About 70% of all bat species have an enormous appetite for insects (including such pests as mosquitoes).
Learning about bats will give you a wonderful sense of relief from fear, and release from ignorance. One can even learn to love and admire them.....

SPLENDOR

Had to share this picture of the most awesome Japanese Maple.......things are so busy....but the good news is that my Dad is doing well....the spot they found on his lung is NOT cancer.....we are still going to Sacramento for doctor appts.....I bought him a DVD over the weekend of "The Rifleman" ......the old TV series with Chuck Conners and Johnny Crawford....( I had a crush on Johnny Crawford)......:-) He is enjoying watching that right this very minute!
I want to THANK all of you....my precious blogging friends for leaving such thoughtful and kind e-mails.....you are the very best!
I am slowly working in the studio....switching a desk.... I even managed to complete a few projects to mail out tomorrow.....I still have more to go........the weather could not be more perfect....it is supposed to be in the 70's this week...and a few days in the 80's in Sacramento....
Another exciting event that happened around here is the BEAR SIGHTINGS....a MAMA bear and 3 cubs......they clawed a tent and bent one of the tent poles to reach some cat food....my brother and sister-in-law were trying to scare them away...one of the cubs climbed up in one of the big pine trees...Mama bear ran off...and the cubs followed...we have been finding bear 'droppings' in the area....
Although the weather is nice right now.....last week was very wet....looks like it might be a long wet Winter.....I am reaching out to all of you....and giving you all big hugs...XXXXOOOOOO

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WONDERFUL DAY

We did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING yesterday !!!!!!!
WE lounged around on the unmade bed with scrunched up quilts and pillows.....our dog, Toby....lots of books and newspapers....drinking fresh squeezed orange juice...eating....eating....eating....
We watched 2 movies...."Wyatt Earp"....and "The Prize Winner of DeFiance, Ohio"...which we both really enjoyed....ate TEMPURA for dinner....talked....laughed.......all cozy and warm.....
" I Love When A DAY LIKE THIS HAPPENS"..................
It's funny..because I'm in the middle of reading a book by Elizabeth Gilbert called "eat pray...love"......(which I do love).....and, in the kick-back mode of yesterday I came across this paragraph on page 113......
"No town can live peacefully, whatever its laws," Plato wrote, "when its citizens....do nothing but FEAST and DRINK and tire themselves out in the cares of love."
But is it such a bad thing to live like this for just a little while? Just for a few months of ones's life, (or one day)....is it so awful to travel through time with no greater ambition than to find the next lovely meal? Or to learn how to speak a language for no higher purpose than that it pleases your ear to hear it? Or to nap in a garden, in a patch of sunlight, in the middle of the day, right next to your favorite fountain? And then do it again the next day?..........
This is what my yesterday felt like......I hope every single one of you have days like this....when you do absolutely NOTHING....but enjoy LIFE! XXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
