Cake...Ice...and Warmth !
It's been very cold....so..yesterday I baked a spice cake with caramel frosting....took a photo of the little bird bath with ice in it...and kept a fire going in the big old fireplace.....I realize that if you live in Minnesota..or someplace like it...that the temps. here are "warm"...it's just that us spoiled Californian's aren't use to the temperatures dipping down in the teens and twenties!!!! (unless you live in Truckee California which is one of the coldest places ever) I am sitting here at the computer with 2 pairs of socks on...2 pairs of pants...2 thick sweaters..and gloves!! It takes awhile for this big old house to warm up!! I hope everyone is warm and cozy today!!!

Yummy looking cake,,wish I could have some,,sick of diet food already and its only been a week and half. Its warm here today but Mr. Winter will be here by next week with highs only in the mid 30s. Keep warm Girlie!!
You just keep tempting me with all those yummies! We are cold down here, too. Last night it was in the teens down here! I'm freezing!!
You have been a very busy blogger today, Girl! One way to keep warm, yes?
I had to grin at your layers of clothes. It reminds me of three months that I spent in a little mountain house in southwestern Virginia. Even though it was, according to locals, one of the warmest winters on record, I doubled up on everything, too. And still every night, I would get a blanket, carry it out to the deck and huddle under it, and spend time looking up at the stars because I'd never seen them so incredibly vivid! I saw my first ever shooting star up there!
The cake looks delicious, and I'll bet it made your house smell amazing! You did save a slice, didn't you? I'm on my way over!
Actually, having lived there I know that Squaw Valley is actually historically the coldest place in Cali. That is why it has the greatest and most expensive skiing too. LOL Truckee is very close to Squaw.

Oh Wow Vicci...I love your fireplace... It's huge! Do you use a coathanger & heat yourself up marshmellows & hotdogs? That always helps to warm things up :)
