Our trip yesterday to "Gold Bug Park"...this is a very old small quaint little park just a few miles from downtown Placerville. There are some very OLD mines here that you can tour...and you can try your hand at gold panning...also a very old stamp mill where they crushed the rock to extract all the gold from...there are picnic tables...a small little gift shop (photo above)..and numerous walking trails...even though they mined tons of gold from this area..they say that 80% of it is still in the ground! Andy liked to go metal detecting up here before it became so commercial. We had the whole park to ourselves yesterday except for the nice elderly lady in the gift shop who started telling us some old stories about a man called "The Goat Doctor" who lived in the area and was a "healer"...I read the book about him...but listened to her story anyway..she was nice..and looked somewhat lonely sitting in the little gift shop all by herself....here are some photos from yesterday..."The trip to Gold Bug".....
